Sloane Sherman (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Tiohtià:ke/Montréal creating works of autofiction and allegory across painting, comics, drawing and film. Her confessional and diaristic storytelling and intimate portraiture serve to explore the interaction of self and environment, with her recent work steering increasingly towards the investigation of Montréal’s built environment and vernacular architecture against the backdrop of the current housing crisis.
Sloane graduated from Concordia University with a BFA in Film Production in 2023. The same year, she completed her first independent short film, Ratgirl. She has self-published one comic about apartments, Walls Remember, which was nominated for Best English Comic at Expozine 2024, and in 2025 gave a talk at Drawn & Quarterly in Montreal, Comics against gentrification, as part of the festival’s 2025 programming.
